Writing with sources — footnotes that keep up, scripts, templates anywhere, and a page in its own window.
- Footnote numbering keeps up with your writing. Insert a citation between two earlier ones and every reference renumbers to reading order on the spot — the new one takes its rightful place, the later ones step up, and the notes list reorders to match. Writing was never linear; now the numbering knows it. (From a reader — thank you.)
- Cite the same source twice. When a page already has footnotes, the footnote command first asks: a new note (just press Return — it’s preselected) or reuse any existing source, listed by number with a snippet of its text. A reused source shows the same number at both places, with a single definition at the foot of the page.
- Superscript and subscript. x² and H₂O, from the format bar, the floating bar, or the / menu. On Markdown pages they travel as
^x^and~x~— with markers that hug the text, so prose about prices and paths never turns into stray scripts. - Insert a template into any page. A page born from a link never offered a template; the workaround was delete, recreate, re-link. Now: stand on the page, type /template, pick one — it expands at your caret with this page’s name and date filled in, on any page, whenever you decide it needs a shape.
- A page in its own small window. Right-click a page ▸ Open in Small Window: a compact card that floats above your other windows — even other apps — so the reference stays in view while you write. It opens in a blink, updates live as the page changes, and the ✎ pen in its header makes it editable right there (eyeglasses to go back to reading). If the same page ever has unsaved changes in two windows at once, MojoPad never guesses: a small bar asks — Use theirs, or keep mine.
- Books show their pictures. An ePub’s illustrations and diagrams now appear in the book reader, sized to the reading column. Only images carried inside the book itself are shown — anything a page tries to fetch from the web is quietly left out, so reading never phones anywhere. (From a reader — thank you.)
- Zoom a PDF. The small − 100% + pill at the reader’s corner, ⌘+/⌘− over the pages, ⌘0 for fit width, or a trackpad pinch. Pages re-render sharp at any size, highlights stay exactly on their words, and every document remembers its zoom along with your reading place. The document toolbar — Reload, Book Notes and friends — now stays put while you scroll, too.
- The manual protects your imports. The built-in manual is a reference copy that app updates replace — importing files into it would quietly lose them on the next update. MojoPad now declines, explains why, and points you to your own wikis.
