The model you pick is the model that answers
- Whatever the box says, answers. Choosing a model in the Ask panel now wins over everything else — including a persona paired with a different model, and the built-in personas that ask for your fastest or your deepest one. Those are what ✦ Auto means while a persona is chosen; they never overrule a model you picked and can see.
- The panel says who is doing a research run. A run is carried out by your own agent whatever the box was set to, and the box now names it instead of going on showing the last model you chose.
- A model that cannot answer is not offered. An entry you began setting up and never gave an address to is left out, and so are all of them while the switch above them is off — a name you can pick but nothing can answer with is worse than a shorter list.
- The mark beside what you type names the model that would really answer it, including when a persona’s pairing is what chose it.
Personas
- Pair a persona with any model you could pick yourself — one on this Mac, your own agent, or one you set up in Settings. Only models installed here could be paired before, so half the models you own were unavailable in the one place for choosing one.
- The list says what each thing in it is — your own agent, the models on this Mac, the ones you set up — each under its own heading, the same as everywhere else you choose a model.
- A pairing whose model is no longer there is kept. Opening a persona while the model it names is unavailable used to show Model: auto, and saving then threw the pairing away. It now says which kind of thing has gone and leaves your choice alone.
- Your own starter questions are offered in every scope, Research it included — a persona written for finding published work now offers its own questions in the scope that goes and finds it. The journal keeps its own, which teach the time windows.
- A starter that trails off waits to be finished, whether you typed the ellipsis character or three full stops. Only the character counted before, so a question you meant to complete was sent as it stood. In Research it a suggestion always fills the box, finished or not: a run reads for as long as it takes, and that is not a thing to start with one click.
