Three things a reader ran into
- ✦ Fill with AI asks about the properties the page has — properly this time. It had been narrowed on the wrong question: whether the page had a kind. But a page carries a property without a kind whenever you type a value into one, or make a page from a template — and those pages were still offered every question defined anywhere in the document. It now asks what the page actually carries. Only a page carrying nothing at all draws on the document, which is still how you fill in a note you have just written; and a page whose kind names nothing says so rather than quietly widening back out.
- A property that asks a server no longer refuses to run on an empty page. If the question is “the five most recent stories on a news site”, it needs no page in order to answer — so starting from a blank page and letting the fill bring the material in now works, which is one of the plainest things to want from it. Where the page really is what is being read, an empty one is still refused, and a document whose words have not been read yet still says so rather than asking about nothing.
- A page made from a template can be asked again. A template’s answers came across without the note that a model had written them, so they arrived looking like your own typing — and something you typed is never offered up for replacement. The ↻ is back on those pages, marked as written from an earlier draft, because that is exactly what it is.
